Southdale Pediatrics relocated to One Southwest Crossing, a class A office building in Eden Prairie. The design team was deliberate about elevating the layout and aesthetic to create a positive experience for patients and staff. The clinic’s iconic branding elements were modernized as they were transferred over to the new space. The quintessential sea turtles swam their way over to the new clinic and are featured on wallcoverings and ceiling tiles in the exam rooms alongside other sea creatures. The lab design was another major consideration on this project. The centralized lab supports medical testing for patients served at all three clinic locations and the demountable walls and reconfigurable furniture and casework allow for future flexibility. Another factor contributing to the layout was the need for natural light. Exam rooms are positioned in the center of the clinic to give staff direct access to windows in the provider lounge and enable the healing properties of natural light to permeate throughout the entire clinic for all users to enjoy. The playfulness that has been rooted in Southdale Pediatrics’ brand for decades is balanced with a sophisticated aesthetic to maintain the patient base as young children age into mature adolescents.
